Thanks to everyone for making the 2023 RVHR Fall soccer season a great success and filled with lots of exciting soccer!!
Congratulations to all the teams that made it to the Championship Night! Here is a re-cap of the evening….
In both the Consolation and Championship 68 games we had lots of excitement – Both games went into overtime and then penalty shoot outs! After a 0-0 regulation play, the Patriots edged out the Stars in the penalty shots to take third place for the season. In the Championship game, after a 1-1 tie in regular play, the Flames outscored the Warriors in penalty shots to take first place and an undefeated season, with the Warriors taking second.
In the 9-12 Consolation game, the Warriors were victorious over the Stars 3-1 to take 3rd place for the season. In the Championship game the 912Eagles outscored the Patriots 3-0 to complete an undefeated season and take 1st place with the Patriots settling for 2nd place.
In the 13+ games, The Warriors outlasted the Flames 3-0 to reach a third place finish and accomplish a sweep of medals for all Warrior teams this season. In the nail-biter Championship game the Eagles squeaked out a 1-0 victory over a formidable Stars opponent. The Eagles finish their undefeated season in first place and the Stars take a well deserved second place.
Finally, in the Coaches vs. 13+MVP game, the coaches edge out a 1-0 win over the players on a beautiful cross by Nick Baldi to Bryan Beman and then a cross over kick right into the goal. The coach of the Coaches team, (who will remain anonymous for his protection), was heard saying that he had spent countless hours designing that specific play for the game — in after game interviews there seems to be some dispute on that issue – we will provide more specifics as that controversy develops…….
